Ushop: unilever

Ushop is a one stop online destination for your everyday essentials, from the house of Unilever. With it’s digital shop, Hindustan Unilever controls everything from warehousing to distribution to delivery to user data. The Project brief was to redesign the existing e-commerce website.

Project Role: Lead UX Designer

I worked as a lead UX Designer along with 1 designer who was reporting to me. I ran a 2 day discovery workshop to kick start the project. We did stakeholder interviews and secondary research, before we jumped into the define part of the same

Design Challenges

Catering to various brands:

Since Unilever is an umbrella brand and the e-commerce sells products from all the brand that comes under it, we needed to create a design that would work across brand types, from skincare to household essentials.

Designing for a framework:

The current website is made on shopify and the dev team had a lot of technical constraints, while designing we had to be mindful of creating structure that were feasible technically and were not an added effort for responsive conversion.

Design Research

I facilitated the design workshops to gather information from stakeholders, generate ideas, and build consensus around the design direction for the project.

I used multiple design thinking activities to gather information regarding the business, for example the Vision mission board, SWOT analysis, Business model canvas, Pseudo personas, and customer journey maps.

Full discovery plan and insight can not be disclosed here. Further information can be discussed over a call.

Define

Post discovery, I worked on the personas, based on the persona groups we had defined with the stakeholders. We worked on proto personas to empathize with the user and design a product that was user centered.

Once the personas were finalized we moved to work on the information architecture, and user flow.
